Over the last 2 months I've been working with Theatre for a Change in Ghana, learning more about the way in which the company uses Interactive Theatre as a tool for HIV/AIDS awareness, education and advocacy.
I've spent lots of time at the Community Theatre in James Town, an old printing warehouse that now houses Interactive workshops for young people in one of the poorest parts of Accra. I've seen new teachers across the country being trained to use Interactive Theatre with Focus Groups in their new schools. I've interviewed scores of people directly affected by TfaC's work and have met some of the most passionate, committed practitioners and enthusiastic kids around.
The Interact Project is a chance to link practitioners working for Theatre for a Change in Ghana with practioners working with young people for some of the most exciting theatre companies in the UK.
From mid-November this blog will become home to online video conversations between the participants in the two countries. We hope that these conversations - each practitioner will send two videos - will form the basis of long term relationships between the individuals and the theatre companies who take part.
